General Landscape Uses: One of the most popular and dependable accent plants for injecting bold, tropical color into landscapes. Used extensively for layered borders, foundation plantings, pool-deck backdrops, and dramatic grouped clusters. Its striking upright form makes it an excellent choice for framing doorways, filling narrow side yards, or serving as a colorful center “thriller” in large accent pottery.

Ecological Restoration Notes: Not used in local ecological restoration.

Description: A striking, erect, evergreen tropical shrub with a cane-like growth habit. It features large, broad, strap-shaped leathery leaves that emerge as a bright, fiery fuchsia-pink and mature into an intense, deep metallic plum-maroon or rich burgundy.
